CBD Oil Arthritis and Inflammation of the Body
CBD Oil for Inflammation and Arthritis
Inflammation is a vital function of the immune system, in that it is the body’s way of healing itself after an injury, or defending itself against foreign elements that might be harmful, such as bacteria or viruses. It is also a way for the body to repair damaged tissue. Without inflammation wounds would get bigger and become infected and such infections could become deadly. However, inflammation can cause problems, and in some cases is a major causal factor in chronic diseases. Read "What is CBD Oil" first before going any further.
Characteristics of Inflammation
Typical characteristics of inflammation are warmth, swelling, redness, immobility and sometimes pain. If for instance, someone stubs their toe, “emergency signals” are released through biochemical processes, as proteins called cytokines bring in the body's immune cells, hormones and nutrients to fix the problem. To enable these nutrients, hormones and white blood cells to move into the spaces between cells, arteries dilate, blood flow increases, and capillaries become more permeable. White blood cells cluster around the injured area and ingest the germs, dead or damaged cells and other unwanted materials, in order to assist the body’s healing process. The hormone prostaglandin creates blood clots which aid in healing the damaged tissue, and also removes them when the healing process is complete. In a situation where swelling occurs, this is due to the fluid that accompanies the nutrients, white cells and hormones, diffusing into the area and can cause increased pressure to nerve endings, resulting in pain. Pus is white blood cells that have accumulated and died after ingesting the threatening materials and is the way that the body disposes of those unwanted cells.
Acute inflammation often occurs after a cut, infected nail, sore throat, sprained ankle and appendicitis and takes a very short time to wear off. Chronic inflammation is often long term and occurs in situations like osteoarthritis and autoimmune diseases such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, IBD and lupus. This type of inflammation is often triggered by environmental or habitual factors such as smoking, stress, poor diet, inadequate exercise, or too much alcohol.
CBD oil is one of the most effective oils made from cannabinoids found in cannabis or hemp plants and differs from cannabis itself insomuch as it is not psychoactive. Although cannabis has been used effectively on a variety of conditions for decades, scientists have recently begun to break down the components of cannabis to determine the health benefits that individual components can provide. Of all the components tested on conditions ranging fromautoimmune diseases to cancer, CBD oil has proven to be one of the most effective.
CBD Oil and Rheumatoid Arthritis
At the Imperial college, London, CBD was tested on mice that had a version of rheumatoid arthritis and was shown to reduce the level of inflammation by 50%. Cardiologists working with mice found that a dosage of CBD immediately after a heart attack can reduce infarct size by about 66%. In a study carried out on mice bred to have a form of type-1 diabetes by Mechoulam, he concluded that only 30% of mice developed diabetes in comparison with the proportion that was given a placebo. He carried out further research during which CBD was introduced after diabetes had already developed and concluded that CBD not only prevented the onset, it blocked the development of the disease.
The Benefits of CBD oil
In conclusion, although one can focus on the positive outcome revealed from various research it should be noted that CBD oil is not the only available treatment for inflammation. The benefits of CBD oil are that there are other certain things that it takes care of that most other medications are unable to handle. There should be continuous research on CBD oil to determine the exact benefits and the level of its effectiveness in treating other illnesses including inflammation. Searching on the internet, attention can be focused on it as a major treatment for inflammation or potentially to provide adequate effectiveness for taking care of other pain related issues.
